About EASTLAND BUNGALOW
About us
Eastland Bungalow, built in 1924 originally served as the official residence of the manager of Eastland Division of Rookwood Estate until it went into derelict in the 1970s following a revision to land ownership laws in Sri Lanka. The bungalow and the adjoining property was put up for sale in 2005, and eventually had a new owner in 2006 – although I have to admit, I had no plan on why I bought it or what I was going to do with it. It was in a state of despair and looked to be down and out, with the floor having caved in at some points and the roof missing in other areas. People still ask me what made us go ahead with it, and to date, I do not have an answer, and will probably never do.
Eastland Bungalow is not a house, not a hotel and definitely not a business. It is our home in the old world and our connection with the beauty of mother nature. It is a place that offers 100% relaxation, away from smart-phones, machines and the pollution that we are exposed to on a daily basis. We welcome you to come share our passion for nature, and enjoy the stay at our home.
